The Tagliata Etrusca

We’re not talking about an ancient florentian grill recipe. The Tagliata Etrusca marks the place where an ancient city Cosa was located and, in fact, on the edge of the beach, even if consumed by the waves, there are still visible the remains of the piers.

Just beside it there is the Spacco della Regina, a natural inlet in the rock which leads to the caves created by the mastery of the humankind. It is difficult to know exactly which was its role (maybe it was a natural pier, previous to that of Tagliata), but it is almost certain that after a landslide which limited the access to it, the caves dug in the rock were used for religious purposes.

We advise you to wear rock-climbing shoes and to have a torch whenever you wish to visit it.
